ISO Registration: What Does It Mean?

In November, Iverson Language Associates received its ISO 9001:2000 registration. If you’re a manufacturer, you are probably familiar with it. If you’re not, here’s a brief explanation.

ISO is a quality standard that focuses on process. It requires a documented process and covers any activity that contributes to the output of the final “product” (in our case, translation). After one year of preparation, an independent third-party auditor verified that our quality management system met the standard’s requirements. These standards include constantly reviewing the product which results from our system, and if a product does not pass our internal inspection, finding the root cause, and fixing it.

Registration to ISO 9001:2000 does not guarantee the quality of our (or any) translations; rather it attests to the fact that consistent processes are being applied. For that reason, we have internal auditors that periodically inspect that we have ongoing compliance with the standard, and with our own quality requirements.

The bottom line for our clients is continued confidence in our ability to deliver high-quality translation, and a commitment to providing continuous improvement. For more information, feel free to contact your Iverson representative.
